Exploring Disproportionate Environmental Impacts of Brownfields on Communities

With brownfields posing significant environmental and health risks, underserved communities are disproportionately affected by contamination and other hazards. Join us for an informative session on how brownfields impact these communities and how sustainable redevelopment can lead to positive change. Learn about the history behind these environmental challenges, examine important data on neighborhoods impacted by brownfield sites, and discuss how brownfields redevelopment can play an important role in building strong, healthy communities for all people. Key topics include:
  • How do brownfields disproportionately impact  underserved communities?
  • How are brownfields connected to the historical environmental challenges in these communities? How does this impact our work today?

Massachusetts Funding Workshop 2025

Join us for the New England Environmental Finance Center’s (NEEFC) Massachusetts Grant Funding Workshop on Wednesday, March 19th from 10:00-12:00 PM. Many communities face challenges when addressing water quality, flooding and/or other climate change impacts – especially when it comes to identifying funding sources to support their projects. While there are a variety of funding programs available in Massachusetts, navigating each program’s requirements, determining which projects are a best fit for each opportunity, and crafting competitive proposals can be challenging. 

This webinar will showcase key state, regional, and federal funding opportunities for projects focused on water quality, water infrastructure, stormwater management, watershed/ecological restoration, and climate resilience. Representatives from each funding agency will provide a brief overview of their programs and opportunities. Additionally, the NEEFC will highlight a few assistance programs for communities, municipalities, and tribes, offering free training, technical help, and support with funding applications.

Representatives from each funding agency and assistance program will be available for questions following the presentation in zoom breakout rooms. Attendees are encouraged to come with questions and/or project ideas for discussion and feedback from grant program representatives.
